Listening and following God is beneficial not to Him but to us in the long run. Afterall for by his act we were given existence in Christ Jesus to do those good works which God before made ready for us so that we might do them.
Making it clear to us that we are to put ourselves under rulers and authorities, to do what they are ordered and be ready for every good work.
Making it clear to us that we are to put ourselves under rulers and authorities, to do what they are ordered and be ready for every good work.
Tit 2:12 Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world;
In a relationship for example, it is the desire of God for us to have focus, to be free from anxieties for the unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, on how to please the Lord; but the married man is anxious about worldly affairs, on how to please his wife, and his interests are divided.
1 Cor 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
This teaching is the same with the homosexuals and the lesbians like the eunuchs. The marriage is between a man and woman for God created they. If they are not comfortable with that then be holy and forever remain single with a promise of reward from G0D better than man and woman.
Is 56:4 For thus saith the LORD to the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even to them will I give in my house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
The covenant of sabbath to Israel is the old testament; the new covenant or the new testament for the Christians is the gospel of Christ as the old is now obsolete.
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and groweth old is ready to vanish away.
But marriage is not an instant reunion. It must have a serious preparation and planning, like an engineer who will build a house or a nation that will go to war with another nation.
Lk 14:28-30 For which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he hath sufficient to finish it? Lest perhaps after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Lk 14:31-32 Or what king going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an embassy, and desireth conditions of peace.
This is not a situation we viewed in movies where after a boy meet a lonely stranger girl at the bar, the next romantic scene is in bed. Jacob courted his wife Rachel and waited for 7 years without sex and another 7 years after the deceitful switching of Leah made by Rachel's father Laban.
Gen 29:16-18 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. Leah was tender-eyed, but Rachel was beautiful and well-favored. And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
You see, marrying a stranger or foreign woman not permitted by God is a disaster. For clarity, stranger in this verse are the ungodly and the unbelievers.
Lev 22:12 If the priest's daughter also shall be married to a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
1 Kings 11:1-5 But king Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; Of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon cleaved to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
So what is the lesson here? The lesson is to be patient. Remember that patient is a virtue. Don't be in a hurry in jumping into a relationship. Have trust in the Lord that someone is on your way; when you are prepared and be ready to marry.
Prov 19:14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
For what can you gain when you bear sons and daughters that you can't raise and feed. They are souls valuable in the eyes of God more than the value of the whole world.
Mt 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
